2015: The Year of Adventure

So you’ll probably have stumbled across my puny blog amongst a colourful array of others, in a blur of beautifully framed, exquisitely filtered images and awe-inspiring travel articles… wondering how on earth you ended up here. Either that or you are one of my few loyal reader(s), mainly my Mum. Well I’m new to all of this, so just hear me out.

My name’s Hannah and I’m a self-confessed dreamer.

I don’t think I’m alone in saying that I’ve spent the past few years romanticising where I might travel to next, heck we all do it! We hope, we plan and we fantasise about the perfect trip, then make our excuses; ‘not enough money, ‘it’s not right time’, ‘I’m not ready’ yada yada… and put it all off for yet another month. Well this time I decided to bite the bullet…

I’ve been obsessed with the prospect of adventure for a long time, to the point where I’ve Google-mapped every inch of the globe, learnt the ‘essentials’ of 4 different languages and watched Eat, Pray, Love on repeat until my eyes bleed. Though I’ve never actually had the guts to just pack a bag and take myself off, no matter how many times I’ve been on the verge of a breakdown through!

Then over the Christmas holidays, something incredible happened. I had a bit of an epiphany, if you can call it that. I decided that 2015 was going to be my year, the year that I would crack that travel bucket list and visit some of the places I have always dreamt of – alone.

So in a bid to break the January tradition and actually follow-through with some of my New Year’s resolutions, this week I…

☆ Booked a one-way flight to Beijing

☆ Handed in my notice at work

☆ Submitted a 12 month working holiday visa for Australia (and had it approved within 2 days – they are so darn fast!)

☆ …and bought a gigantic world map (literally, it’s huge, I’m 5ft.10 and it’s as big as me)

It’s been a busy week.

So this is it! I’m actually doing it! 2015 is my year and I feel alive (and slightly giddy)!

Follow me on my journey.
